Late Saxon (973-1066)

This section covers the period from the Reform Coinage of Eadgar in 973 AD, through Edward the Martyr, Ethelred II, Cnut, Harold I, Harthacnut, Edward the Confessor and Harold II. The Saxon period came to an abrupt end with the defeat of Harold at the Battle of Hastings in 1066.
