£25.00
Part 1 of the EXTREMELY IMPORTANT Traveller Collection of Gold Coins from across the world; this being British Part 1. Although the collection is predominantly gold, there is one pattern silver coin included in this sale along with the lower denominations from a proof set. 200 lots of choice British Coins and Medals, fully illustrated with provenances given. 108pp. Hardback
The collection was assembled from the time of the Great Depression up to the Second World War, when the collector, whose name is not given, decided to bury them and so protect them from being confiscated by the Nazis. He subsequently died following the invasion and the collection was only recovered by his wife after the war, she being the only person who knew the location. A fascinating story from a turbulent period in European history.
